Lack of Funding for AIDS care in Africa
One of the biggest issues regarding AIDS in Africa(South Africa more specifically) is the hwho are infected with ealthcare offered by the countries. A government commission has found that some hospitals are so poor that they "lack enough workers, medical equipment, ambulances, linens and medicine to provide proper care to the poor, doctors cancel surgery because they lack sterile towels and sheets, and nursing departments are so shorthanded that patients must often be bathed and fed by relatives." South Africa has began to spend more money on AIDS care, but Hospitals still struggle to care for AIDS victims due to their usual broken medical instruments and ineffective medication from many years prior, the effect from the lack of funding is the death of many aids victims and the many children who are infected with HIV everyday only due to the lack of funds. The average life expectancy of South Africa is 52 years old and at the extremes the life expectancy is 51. Other effects from the lack of AIDS funding us the economy weakening due tot he usual deaths of the family income earners and the replacement of many teachers and social workers who become ill from AIDS. The long term impact is Economic downturn, impact on schools who are very important for aids prevention due to AIDS education and the deaths of many people.
